Montgomery got a terrific performance from pitcher Mario Calle, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chattanooga Lookouts. Chattanooga won the Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium contest, 4-2. Calle threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Mark Campbell picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Ken Brusky suffered the loss. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Buck.
Frank Carrasquillo, who is tied for 8th in the SL in stolen bases with 3, chipped in a run-scoring walk for Chattanooga in the top of the ninth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
After the game, Chattanooga manager Nick Allison applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Lookouts, now 12-6, have been red hot.
