Jones Top-Notch as Smokies Stop Barons, 2-1

The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The Tennessee Smokies downed the Birmingham Barons, 2-1, at Regions Field. Stellar pitching by David Jones had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Jeremy Porras collected save number 3.
Jones's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 10 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 6 hits. Jones goes to 1-1 on the year with 39 strikeouts.
"David just settled in and did what he does," said Tennessee manager Steve Schwab.
The loss has the Barons at 8-10.
