Mississippi 6-1 Victors at Smokies Park
|
The Mississippi Braves topped the Tennessee Smokies, 6-1, in Southern League action at Smokies Park. The standout performance belonged to Mississippi pitcher and Bedford, Virginia, native Heath Fletcher. The Smokies, 10-12, continue their sluggish start to the 2113 campaign.
Mississippi used a clutch at-bat from Nate Montanye to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Braves ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We didn't play well enough to win," said Tennessee skipper Joe Phillips.
