Rays Stumble, Lose to Pirates
Fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Pittsburgh win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays, 8-4. Jason Williams started for the home team against Dean Thomas. Steve Auclair earned accolades for his performance. Jason Williams earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 6 innings of work.

Yoelbi Eugnio drew 1 walk for Pittsburgh. The 29-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Dean Thomas. It was his 1st walk of the season.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Eugnio told the Pittsburgh Citizen.
