Lookouts Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Chattanooga pitcher Tony Macias had a large part in his team subduing the Birmingham Barons, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winning pitcher was Macias, now 1-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 10. The Barons fall to 11-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The Lookouts got a big at-bat from shortstop Ricky Bermea. For the game, Bermea was 1 for 1 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Chattanooga a 3-1 lead.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chattanooga manager Nick Allison.
