New York Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss
|
Not everyone stuck through the 58-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
Eddie Melendez imposed his will on the Yankees from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Tampa Bay triumph. The Rays raised their record to 2-0.
Dan Lamle chipped in a 2-run home run for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"It was our day today," Melendez told the Tampa Bay Observer. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
