Shuckers Stymie Jackson, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Biloxi Shuckers got a good effort from starter Josh Ambro in defeating the Jackson Generals at The Ballpark at Jackson. The final score was 5-1. Ambro, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The third-place Shuckers are 14-22.
Chris Renteria had a big solo home run for the Shuckers in the top of the fourth inning. With Biloxi leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a slider from Vinny Hernandez, who is tied for 4th in the SL in quality starts with 5, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shuckers ahead, 2-0.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Ambro.
