Birmingham starter Josh Beckmann kept the Montgomery offense in check, while his team cruised to a win, 11-2. Beckmann yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-2. Ryan Bridges finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Birmingham first baseman Nick Selfridge contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Barons ahead, 4-2.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Montgomery manager George Woolbright. "They smoked us."
With the win, Birmingham goes to 17-19, while the Biscuits fall to 21-15.
