Jackson Claims 2-1 Victory
|
Marty Oliver, who is tied for 9th in the SL in wins with 4, was in top form in a tight contest between Jackson and Pensacola. The Generals left-hander helped his team beat the Blue Wahoos, 2-1. Oliver, now 4-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Guillermo Lopez picked up the save, his 3rd.
Jackson designated hitter Victor Jimenez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Generals ahead, 2-0.
"Marty made the big pitches when he needed to," said Jackson manager Tony Trujillo.
Jackson is now 22-25. Pensacola is 31-16.
