Montgomery Tacks 5-2 Loss on Biloxi
|
The Montgomery Biscuits topped the Biloxi Shuckers, 5-2, in Southern League action at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Montgomery pitcher Jose Esparza. The winner was Esparza. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Bryant Hays. Montgomery is now 30-20, Biloxi 19-31.
The Shuckers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Biscuits going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Huai-yu Zhang came to the plate. Zhang hit a 3-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Biloxi hurler Bryant Hays. It was Zhang's 8th home run of the year.
"Jose looked like he had more finish on his ball," said Montgomery manager George Woolbright.
