Biscuits Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Montgomery Biscuits took Jacksonville pitcher Marty Jacobson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The final score had Montgomery getting past the Suns, 3-2. Jacobson went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. Joe Williamson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. The Biscuits, at 22-32, sit in 4th place in the South Division.
Montgomery used the timely hitting of Neal Kallstrom to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Biscuits on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Kallstrom told the Montgomery Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
