Barons Deal Generals 7-4 Loss
|
The Birmingham Barons faced a tough opponent in Jackson pitcher Jose Jasso, but found a way to pull out the victory at The Ballpark at Jackson by a final score of 7-4 in 14 innings. Jasso went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Alejandro Comparan, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. Today's win puts Birmingham at 30-26, while Jackson falls to 18-38.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Jonathan Perez came to bat in the top of the 14th. Facing Jackson pitcher Antonio Lujan, he hit a 0-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Birmingham on top, 5-4.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Barons manager John Ware.
