The Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Tennessee Smokies completed their game despite the rain.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos firmly defeated the Tennessee Smokies, 17-3, at Smokies Park. The Pensacola offense was lit. Basilio Santana, for one, had a solid game. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 7 runs and scored once for the Blue Wahoos. Bill Penn, who is tied for 6th in the SL in strikeouts with 73, was the winner. He's now 5-5. The loser was Eric Lombardo.

With Pensacola leading 7-2 in the top of the fifth, Santana came up to bat against Tennessee pitcher Rich Urbina. Santana hit a slider to left for a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Blue Wahoos on top, 11-2.

Tennessee manager Steve Schwab called the loss "a monumental failure."

At 30-28, the Blue Wahoos are currently 4th in the North Division.
