Kyle Currence of the Montgomery Biscuits was on top of his game.

The 25-year-old tantalized the Mississippi Braves with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0.

"He had the changeup working," Mississippi manager Scott Oaks said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Montgomery hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.

Currence told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

So far this year, Currence has a 2-8 record with a 4.10 ERA.
