Guardians Get Clonked by White Sox, 6-3
|
Conditions were not ideal but Chicago and Cleveland were able to put their game in the books.
Cleveland shortstop Walt Baranyi had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Baranyi was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, even as Chicago beat the Guardians, 6-3. Alfredo Cortez went 6.1 innings for Chicago to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record improves to 1-0.
Ryan Builes provided a timely hit. The Chicago pinch hitter delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the White Sox on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Said losing manager Danny Jaime: "We just didn't get it done tonight."
Chicago is now 3-0.
