The Birmingham Barons had to overcome a fine performance from Pensacola pitcher Sandy Encarnacion to grab a 3-1 win at Five County Stadium. Encarnacion allowed 2 runs over 7 innings. The save was credited to Josh Ambro, his 15th. With the victory, the Barons upped their record to 44-27.
Billy Stanley, who is tied for 2nd in the SL in home runs with 17, aided the Birmingham cause with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder was 1-3 with a home run.
Stanley said his team "played with focus."
