Biloxi starter Bill Griffith put a stranglehold on the Montgomery offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Shuckers to a 5-0 win. The winning pitcher was Griffith, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. The third-place Shuckers now sit at 41-32.

The Shuckers got a big at-bat from first baseman Dennis Schickel. For the game, Schickel was 2-4 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Biloxi a 1-0 lead.

Schickel attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
