Smokies Edged by Generals, 6-3
|
Tennessee got a valiant performance from pitcher Andy Stember, but it wasn't enough to beat the Jackson Generals. Jackson won the game, 6-3. Stember threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Santiago Dominguez earned the save, his 2nd, for the Generals. The last-place Generals improved to 34-43.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Taylor O'Malley? The 24-year old third baseman O'Malley stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Jackson up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
O'Malley said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
