Smokies Rack Up 4-2 Win Versus Jackson
|
Tennessee starter Travis Netsch pitched well against the Jackson Generals at Smokies Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. Netsch, the winner, moves to 10-1. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 5 walks. The Smokies have an impressive 55-24 record.
Brendan Quillen had a big 3-run home run for the Smokies in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Tennessee trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mel Valdez and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Smokies on top, 4-2.
Tennessee manager Steve Schwab said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
