The Mobile BayBears got a strong performance from pitcher Nate Phillips, who stymied the Montgomery offense en route to a win, 8-2, at Hank Aaron Stadium. The winning pitcher was Phillips, now 7-8. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Mobile, now 41-40, holds down third place in the South Division.

Jeff Sanfillipo dealt the Biscuits a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Mobile leading 1-0, Sanfillipo, who is tied for 6th in the SL in hits with 79, hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single.

"It feels good to get this one," Phillips told the Mobile Today.
