Philadelphia Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
In a tight contest between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, Mike Rutz was the determining factor. The New York right-hander sparkled in his team's 1-0 win. John Rood nailed down his 2nd save. With the win, New York goes to 2-1.
New York catcher Matt Teed contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 1-0.
"Runs were at a premium," said New York manager Rodney Smith.
