Cardinals Thrash Brewers, 15-1
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The St. Louis Cardinals romped over the Milwaukee Brewers, 15-1, at Busch Stadium. Mario Santiago led the way. He went 3-5 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 times for St. Louis. The winning pitcher was Chris Fama. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits for the Cardinals.
David Musquiz had a big 2-run double for the Cardinals in the bottom of the first inning. With St. Louis leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Ray Dunham and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 4-0.
Losing skipper Danny Post called the defeat "kind of a clunker all around."
The win lifts St. Louis to a record of 3-0.
