Braves Upend Biscuits, 6-3
|
The Mississippi Braves picked up a win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, knocking off the Montgomery Biscuits, 6-3. On the mound for Mississippi was left-hander Luis Alvares. He played a key role in the triumph. By defeating Montgomery, the third-place Braves improved to 47-43.
Mississippi used a clutch at-bat from Danny Blanchard to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Braves ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Blanchard said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
