Giants Shut Out Rangers, 4-0
|
The San Francisco Giants rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Ben Bower to a win, beating the Texas Rangers, 4-0, at AT&T Park. After losing, Texas is 2-1.
Mike Pothast had a big 2-run double for the Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Francisco leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Darius Shaheed, who finished 3rd in the NL in wins with 16 in 2106, and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 4-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Bower told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
