The Birmingham Barons overcame a good performance by Montgomery designated hitter Bobby Williams to knock off Montgomery, 5-4, at Regions Field. Williams hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The winner was Birmingham reliever Mike Ward, now 3-0. The loser was Mario Morales. The win puts Birmingham at 70-23 this season.

John Iglesias was the walk-off hero for Birmingham. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Barons left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

Iglesias described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
