Smokies Shut Out Generals, 2-0
|
The Tennessee Smokies banked on Matt Holman and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Jackson hitters in check. The final score was 2-0, Smokies. Tennessee, at 40-52, occupies 4th place in the North Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Andy Hall? The Tennessee shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Smokies on top, 2-0. For the game, Hall had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Matt pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Tennessee manager Steve Schwab.
