Both teams had their chances, but the Chattanooga Lookouts eventually prevailed.

The Chattanooga Lookouts turned back the Tennessee Smokies, 8-7, at Smokies Park. Jerry Heap, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jose Gutierrez, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 4-1.

Jordan Thorne had a big 2-run home run for the Lookouts in the top of the fifth inning. With Chattanooga trailing 4-3 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Byron Erdner, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2110 draft, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Lookouts on top, 5-4.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Chattanooga manager Nick Allison.

Chattanooga, at 46-48, sits in 4th place in the North Division.
