Smokies Top Lookouts in Extras, 6-5
|
The Tennessee Smokies snuck past the Chattanooga Lookouts, 6-5, in 10 innings. Tennessee pitcher Jesse Clare, in particular, had a standout performance. Their 47-48 record puts the Smokies 4th in the North Division.
Spencer Heap came through with a big-time hit for Tennessee. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Jesse executed his pitches at a high level," said Tennessee manager Diego Perez.
