Down Goes New York, 4-3, to Minnesota
|
New York got a decent performance from pitcher Chase Gifford, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota won the Yankee Stadium contest, 4-3. Gifford threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Chad Coslow. He tossed 98 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Carlos Mella finished the game for Minnesota and earned his 1st save.
Joe Oliver came through with a big-time hit for Minnesota. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Feels good to get the job done," Oliver said after the game.
New York, with the loss, is 0-4.
