Blue Wahoos Sting Lookouts, 5-4
|
No one was more impactful than Basilio Santana in the 5-4 Pensacola win over Chattanooga. Santana was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. Mario Rangel, now 2-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Blue Wahoos saw their win-loss record go to 53-45. At the same time, the Lookouts fell to 52-46.
Pensacola needed the clutch hitting of Pete Martens to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Wahoos on top, 5-4. For the game, Martens had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It's not about individual awards," Martens told a Pensacola Gazette reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
