The Pensacola Blue Wahoos downed the Birmingham Barons, 6-5, at Five County Stadium. Alex Valdivia led the way, going 3-for-4 for Pensacola. Pensacola reliever Mario Rangel picked up the win, raising his record to 3-4. Jonas Bautista was tagged with the loss. Pensacola now sports a record of 55-45.

The Blue Wahoos were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 22-year old catcher Sean Simple landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch cutter from Angelo Trejo into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Five County Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Blue Wahoos home with a thrilling 6-5 win.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Valdivia said.
