With Late Score, Lookouts Beat Barons
|
The Chattanooga Lookouts, despite a fine performance by Birmingham pitcher Juan Galvan, grabbed a 3-2 win in 10 innings at AT&T Field. Galvan allowed 1 run over 6.1 innings. The winner was Chattanooga reliever Andres Fernandez, now 3-5. The loser was Ryan Mays. Chattanooga is now 71-39.
The Lookouts got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Miguel Guillen. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Lookouts.
During his postgame press conference, Lookouts manager Nick Allison told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
