Diamondbacks Go Down to Defeat, 11-7
|
Arizona first baseman Mario Valdez pounded Milwaukee Brewers pitchers at Miller Park, but it was not enough to keep the Diamondbacks from falling, 11-7. Valdez was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The Brewers, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.
Byron Weaver, who finished 2nd in the NL in extra base hits with 92 in 2096, chipped in for Milwaukee with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Milwaukee manager Art Matlock.
