Suns Drop 5-1 Decision to Barons
|
Barons third baseman Tom Finger left his mark on his team's 5-1 win over the Jacksonville Suns. Finger, who is tied for 8th in the SL with a .396 on-base percentage, was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Birmingham in the contest. Jimmy Neils notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 6.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Bobby Vilchez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 19 save opportunities.
Birmingham took a 4-1 lead on Finger's 11th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Jim Bush in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Birmingham to the win.
"We're producers not directors," said Finger. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
With the win, Birmingham raised its record to 66-45.
