It wasn't easy but the Jacksonville Suns made it look that way.

Starter Jesus Cruz shut out the Birmingham Barons despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Jacksonville Suns cruised to victory, 1-0. Cruz allowed only 1 hit and rang up 5 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

So far this year, Cruz has made 16 starts, tossed 109 innings, struck out 100 batters and walked 61. His record is 8-11 with a 5.45 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .276 batting average.
