Shuckers Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
In a tight contest at MGM Park, the Birmingham Barons edged the Biloxi Shuckers by the score of 3-2. Birmingham right fielder Nick Selfridge, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Birmingham pitcher Tony Ponce De Leon got the win, upping his record to 5-0. Bengie McNealy got the loss. Earning his 12th save of the year was Tim Stephens.
Matt Bauer, who is tied for 2nd in the SL in bases on balls with 61, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bauer contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Birmingham up, 3-2.
When asked about his performance after the game, Bauer said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
The 4th-place Barons now sit at 55-63.
