Down to Defeat Go Suns, 6-3
|
The Birmingham Barons beat the Jacksonville Suns, 6-3. Birmingham pitcher and Regina, Canada, native R.J. MacLean led the way. MacLean got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 7 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Barons, at 60-59, sit in third place in the South Division.
Birmingham used the timely hitting of Steve Hostler to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Barons ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
In postgame comments to the Birmingham Herald, Hostler said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
