Santana Helps Blue Wahoos Defeat Smokies, 6-4
Pensacola left fielder Basilio Santana made his presence felt in the 6-4 Blue Wahoos triumph over the Tennessee Smokies. Santana went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Pensacola pitcher Bill Penn earned the win, hiking his record to 9-7. Aaron Scott suffered the loss. The save went to Willie Morel, number 1 for him.

The Smokies had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Blue Wahoos going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old catcher Franklin Martinez came to the plate. Martinez hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 fastball from Tennessee hurler Aaron Scott. It was Martinez's 1st double of the year.

"It feels good to get this one," Martinez told the Pensacola Gazette.

The win makes Pensacola 67-53.
