Randolph layland was a major factor in the 6-5 Biloxi win over Pensacola. The Shuckers center fielder went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, Biloxi upped its record to 67-56.

The Blue Wahoos had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Shuckers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old shortstop Mike Whitworth came to the plate. Whitworth hit a bases-clearing double on a 2-1 fastball from Pensacola hurler Dan Costello. It was Whitworth's 7th double of the year.

Said Biloxi manager Carlos Estrada: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
