Everything was working for Jason Havens today at MGM Park. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The cutter was working.

In an unforgettable performance, the 25-year-old Havens fanned 17 Blue Wahoos and sparked the Biloxi Shuckers to a 1-0 victory over Pensacola. He left Blue Wahoos hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.

"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Biloxi manager Marcus Dilworth. "His location and command were really something."

In addition to collecting 17 strikeouts over 8.2 innings, Havens allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing.

"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Havens said with a smile.

In season stats Havens shows a 16-5 record in 39 games, 159.1 innings, 207 strikeouts and a 2.43 ERA.
