Shuckers Topple Blue Wahoos, 6-5, as Mendez Shines
The Biloxi Shuckers and Pensacola Blue Wahoos obliged fans looking for a good time.

No one was more impactful than Willie Mendez in the 6-5 Biloxi win over Pensacola. Mendez was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bengie McNealy, now 2-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings.

Ben Landrum went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Biloxi. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Landrum, who is rated as the 52nd best prospect by BNN, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Pensacola hurler Willie Morel, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Shuckers a 6-5 lead.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Landrum said in reaction to the win.

The last-place Shuckers now have a record of 51-74.
