Smokies Rally to Win
|
Tennessee and Chattanooga duked it out and the Smokies came out victorious.
Tennessee Smokies starter Ricky Salazar pitched a strong game against the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field, leading the Smokies to victory, 4-2. The Smokies improved to 62-69.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Willie Mendez came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Chattanooga pitcher Jeff Robles, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tennessee on top, 3-2.
Tennessee manager Steve Schwab commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
