Blue Wahoos Win, Gillett has 3 hits
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Five County Stadium. Fortunately for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, though, Nick Gillett was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, to lead his team past the Montgomery Biscuits, 3-1. Aaron Humphrey, who is tied for 8th in the SL with a 9.7 K/9 rate, was the winner. He's now 9-5. The loser was Scott Peterson. Barry Snow was credited with the save for Pensacola, his 14th of the season.
In the bottom of the third, Gillett had a solo home run for Pensacola. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Blue Wahoos on top, 1-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Pensacola manager Evan Salinas.
The Blue Wahoos improved their record to 72-63 with the win over Montgomery.
