The Houston Astros topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-4, in American League action at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Houston pitcher and West Liberty, Kentucky, native Mark Gaither. In 6 innings, Gaither surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Guillermo Padron recorded his 3rd save for Houston.

Houston used the clutch hitting of Ricky Gomez to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Astros the lead, 4-2. For the game, Gomez had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
