Cleveland Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Cleveland Guardians, 5-2, in National League action at Progressive Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta pitcher Andy Bourdeau. Bourdeau got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. With the loss, Cleveland is 3-3.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Greg Somers to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Bourdeau.
