Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Safeco Field.

The Seattle Mariners wanted a good start from Josh McCurley -- and he delivered one. The result was a 5-2 Seattle win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Safeco Field. In 5.1 innings, McCurley surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.

The Mariners got a big at-bat from left fielder Chris Floyd. For the game, Floyd was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-1 lead.

Floyd told the Seattle Herald: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."

The win puts Seattle at 3-2.
