Pirates Secure 7-0 Win
|
Spirited fans greeted the Seattle Mariners for their clash with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Safeco Field, taking down the Seattle Mariners, 7-0. Starting pitcher Josh Schumann was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Schumann, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5.
David Windsor went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Pittsburgh. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Adrian Pendleton. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
"Josh executed his pitches at a high level," said Pittsburgh manager Merlyn Evans.
The win takes Pittsburgh to 2-3.
