The Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Minnesota Twins topped the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, in American League action at Target Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Minnesota pitcher Russell Cottrell. Nick Long recorded the save, his 2nd.
In the bottom of the sixth, Minnesota third baseman Emilio Gonzales put his team on top. With one out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 1st home run of the year. Oakland pitcher Brendon Howell served it up. Just like that, the Twins were ahead, 3-2.
"This was a tough loss," said Oakland manager Jon Pearson. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
After losing, Oakland is 4-3.
