Lara Batters Chicago Big Time
Jose Lara was at the head of a Washington Nationals hit parade today at Nationals Park. The 28-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Chicago Cubs that marched off with the 15-9 win.

"We didn't have it today," griped Nationals skipper Doug Graff following the game. "Jose did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."

Lara did more than fine, dominating the Cubs at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.

"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging first baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

Jose Lara singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Aaron Hosey in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

For the year Lara has hit .370 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
