Minnesota Gets 13-Inning, 3-2 Win
|
The Minnesota Twins did just enough to sneak past the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, at Target Field. Minnesota pitcher Jon Meger, in particular, had a standout performance. Minnesota reliever Nick Frye got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Freddy Hernandez was tagged with the loss. The loss puts Oakland at 4-4.
The Twins relied on designated hitter Bill Widby for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 13th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
Widby described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
