Royals Drop 3-1 Decision
|
The Seattle Mariners topped the Kansas City Royals, 3-1, in American League action at Safeco Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Rick Hutson. Hutson yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1. The defeat makes Kansas City 3-4.
Phil Robbins had a big solo home run for the Mariners in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Seattle leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old left-handed pitcher Antonio Aguilar and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Mariners on top, 3-1.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Hutson told the Seattle Chronicle. "Whatever it takes."
