Giants Bump Off Mets, 7-2
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The San Francisco Giants faced a tough opponent in New York pitcher Zaire Shaw, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Citi Field by a final score of 7-2. Shaw went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jose Rodriguez picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-1.
The result might have been different for San Francisco, had it not been for Dave Melton, the 29-year old center fielder . Melton stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put San Francisco up, 5-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Melton told the San Francisco Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
With the win, San Francisco climbs to 5-2.
